The Crucifixion
Dipping the bread and drinking the wine, the Apostles with Jesus,
celebrating Passover for the last time. The betrayal was set and no one but
Jesus knew, which one of His disciples had planned for His coup. For the
harvest had come for Judases thievery, the devil entered him through the love
of money and caused his derisory. Thirty pieces of silver was all it had taken,
for the chief priests to bribe him, he was mistaken.
The garden was not an easy place for Peter, James, and John to stay,
but Jesus had led them there and told them they should watch and pray. For
their time together was short but the grief was prolonged, Judas found Jesus in
the garden whose entrance had become thronged. Betrayed with a kiss the
soldiers knew, it was time to arrest Jesus, they had been given their cue.
In front of the crowd Jesus had stood, to be judged by His peers, but
Pilot knew He was good. With all of their might, together they shouted,
"crucify Him, crucify Him!," Pilot wished them rerouted. He tried to
release Him, but they would not relent, they had asked for Barabbas, he was
released with dissent. With nothing to do but let the judgment stand, in front
of the crowd pilot had washed his hands.
Jesus was led away and tied to a post, His clothes were removed, and
His body exposed. The flagellum whip made with iron and glass came down and hit
Jesus hard as it made its first pass. Blood dripping down as his flesh is
ripped out, becoming more disfigured beyond human likeness as He faces every
bout. Thirty-nine stripes, He didn't miss one, the Word fulfilled, healing now
through His name has been won.
Placing a crown of thorns on your head, the soldiers would mock and
spit on you as you bled. But you've reached the last mile, your mission is
almost complete, you walked to Golgotha with a cross through the street. You
laid on the beam and didn't try to fight, they nailed down your left hand and
you stretched out your right. The soldiers, for your clothes, they cast lots,
the excruciating pain you felt kept your mind from those kind of wants. The
sins of the world had laid heavy on you that day, the precious price for
salvation was clearly on display. The sky grew dark, and the earth did shake,
the soldiers around now believed they had made a mistake. The Power of death,
hell and the grave have now been diminished, you gave up your life as you bowed
your head and announced, "it is finished."
