The Rapture
The sound of a horn shakes him out of a deep sleep, he looks to his
right and begins to weep. His wife warned him this day would come, he's alone
in the bed, stunned and numb. He thought he had time, he thought he could wait,
Jesus has come and ended his debate. "She's gone, she’s gone" echoing
through the empty house, what's done is done, he lost his spouse.
She was teaching the youth when the sound went out, a shofar was
blown, but now she's in doubt. She saw them disappear right before her eyes,
even the ones she helped to baptize. But here she stood alone in the room, she
thought she was saved, so she assumed. She went to the sanctuary to find the
Pastor weeping, she thought to herself this was not worth cheating.
On top of the world, he felt at the time, he sold out his soul and up
the corporate ladder he climbed. But the shock of the news hit him so fast, he
no longer had time to think of all he had amassed. The world was in turmoil,
the stock markets crashed, the faces of loved ones missing on the t.v. had
flashed. "Here one second and gone the next" the news anchor
proclaimed while shouting all perplexed. He fell to his knees, searching for a
resource, he cried out to God hoping for a recourse.
Plowing the fields, there was work to be done, mad at his wife, to
church she had taken their son. He came to the table expecting some dinner, his
wife was not home yet, he felt like a sinner. He called her hungry and upset,
trying to tell her what to do but the last thing he heard from her was "I
love you." He called her again and to voicemail it went, still trying to
figure out what all this meant. His friend had called to tell him the news,
Jesus had come, and they had no more excuse.
Where will you be when Jesus comes back, when the shofar sounds and
the eastern sky cracks. Will you be ready to be caught up together with Him, to
join all His Angels singing praises and hymns. To be the beautiful bride joined
with the Groom at last, adorned without wrinkle or spot from the past. The
choice is yours, it has always been, come awake and alive and forsake all your
sin. Accept Him today while you still have breath, anything else chosen will
surely lead to death.
